Sandy DeLuca - Fine Artist
My work ranges from whimsical fantasy pieces, to dark emotional work and on to the totally abstract. I use vibrant color, often combining paint with fabric, handmade papers and words. . As of late I've been experimenting with digital art. I've used various digital software to either embellish original paintings and drawings, or to create designs from scratch. Despite experimentation with other mediums, including writing, working with paint and canvas gives me no greater satisfaction. I try to create what I call a small 'paint sketch' each day before returning to larger projects.
I am an accomplished writer, having produced novel five novels: SETTLING IN NAZARETH, DESCENT, MANHATTAN GRIMOIRE, FROM ASHES AND REQUIEM FOR THE DEAD. My poetry chapbook, BURIAL PLOT IN SAGITTARIUS, was nominated for the BRAM STOKER award in 2001. I recently completed a novella entitled THEIR CHILDREN'S CRIES UNHEARD.
For several years I honed my photographic skills, producing a series of black and white and color photographs.
My life has been a journey of artistic experimentation.
At this time in my life painting has become my main focus. It is a place where I feel most comfortable and alive. I am influenced by Beckmann, the German Expressionists and Chagall. I am now in the process of creating a series of paintings inspired by my own dark visions and dreamy alternate realities.
